We bought the book The Total Money Makeover- a proven plan for financial fitness, while we were in our way too expensive townhome in Daybreak. It was during this time that we knew we had to get out, because we were on a bad road. We have since started listening to Dave Ramsey's podcast and have really been inspired by Dave's enthusiasm, and by all the sad, but successful stories that are revealed on his show. As bad of a situation as we are in, we are fortunate that we are now moving forward! Which is a GREAT feeling. We have cut up our credit cards, and are looking forward to our financial future, rather than feeling lost and unsure. If you need some help with a plan financially, we totally recommend listening to his podcast, and if you're feeling good about what you hear, we love his Total Money Makeover book, but have heard his Financial Peace is really good too.
I'm sure that there are lots of good inspiring people to learn about money, and how to do good things with it. Who has helped you out?

I was with a 7-year-old girl my friend babysits today. She was telling me that they got a Wii and how much she likes to play it. The sad thing was that she said "we don't have a lot of money but that's okay because we had a credit card to buy it with."
I feel bad for her future!
I really like Robert Kyosakis Cash Flow Quadrent and Rich Dad Poor dad.
I should get the dave Ramsey book. We're in almost the same situation you are in. Had to move out of our aparment to Matts Grandmas house cause it was going to be free. Now its time to start cutting down the debt but how is the important question.
Our little helper is a bit different. We actually have been attending a non-member couples bible study group. They take sessions and study different books. This last session they did one about finances in the marriage and we attended. It was really neat to talk about money with people our age and to be able to add a bit of religion to it. It was interesting to see some of the things they believed it. But overall it was very helpful!
